ABOUT THE ARTIST

Delene Lambert is a self-taught artist specializing in wildlife art. After getting married to Tom Lambert, a farmer in the Featherstone district of Chivhu, Zimbabwe it was very isolated on the farm and she needed to do something. Her mother had taken art lessons with a lady living close by and invited her to join. It was a magical lesson and although the first paintings were pretty dreadful she loved it and from that moment was hooked. The farm was part of a conservancy so she had many opportunities to observe the animals in their natural habitat.
In 2002 political upheaval in Zimbabwe prevailed and she, her husband and two small children were given 24 hours to leave with only what could be packed on one of the farm trucks. Having been stripped of home and income art was a form of escape and was able to sell her paintings to keep their heads above water. They moved to Harare Zimbabwe where Tom opened a borehole and pump business and she had her first exhibition. They then moved to South Africa and haven't looked back.

Delene spends many hours at waterholes taking photographs to work from and her preferred medium is oil on canvas. She is a listed artist in 'Artists of the Waterberg' directory, has been the subject of several magazine and newspaper articles and has had successful exhibitions. She has been commissioned to do the paintings for Lephalale municipal offices and the Anglo-American game lodges. Her paintings are sold worldwide.
