ABOUT THE ARTIST :

Since I can remember I have a passion for Art. As a child my first love was pencil and charcoal sketches.  I spend many hours with my sketchpad and created my own world. I got the opportunity at the age of 15 to sketch for a company’s  monthly newsletter. Later on I have entered a competition where we have to  design a cover for a book.  I won the 1st prize with my design of an owl done in charcoal. A few years later I entered another competition with a charcoal and pencil still life sketch. Again I walked away with the first prize. From thereon I couldn’t imagine a day without drawing or painting. I realized that I want to make art my career but  unfortunately I didn’t get a chance.
I spend 20 years in service of the SAPS but still in between working,  studying for my LLB degree and Diploma in Negotiation through Unisa I always made time for my painting. I even gave fabric paint classes once a month for elderly people and children. During this time I experimented  with different mediums like oil, gouache and pastels. But I love acrylic. That is my medium of preference.
About six months ago my husband gave me the opportunity to become a full time artist.  I did not had any formal training until about a month ago when I met a very talented artist Helen Brice-Willis. She gave me some tips (tricks of the trade, like she calls it) and I did three paintings with her. I get most of my knowledge about art in my collection of art books and magazines.
My aim is not to do create realistic paintings but just to create a piece of art that can be enjoyed by an art lover or anyone who love beautiful things. I want my paintings to speak to the buyer because every painting represents a feeling and a piece of who I am.
I have not done any solo exhibitions as yet but looking forward to have my first exhibition later this year in Margate KZN.  Currently my work are exhibited with those of other artists in Margate.

Painting is absolutely my happy place.  It is my way of escaping to a world of creativity.  While busy with a painting I found that I am losing touch with reality.  I am totally drawn into my own creative “space”.
To me my brush is a magic wand…..

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Delene Lambert is a self-taught artist specializing in wildlife art. After getting married to Tom Lambert, a farmer in the Featherstone district of Chivhu, Zimbabwe it was very isolated on the farm and she needed to do something. Her mother had taken art lessons with a lady living close by and invited her to join. It was a magical lesson and although the first paintings were pretty dreadful she loved it and from that moment was hooked. The farm was part of a conservancy so she had many opportunities to observe the animals in their natural habitat.
In 2002 political upheaval in Zimbabwe prevailed and she, her husband and two small children were given 24 hours to leave with only what could be packed on one of the farm trucks. Having been stripped of home and income art was a form of escape and was able to sell her paintings to keep their heads above water. They moved to Harare Zimbabwe where Tom opened a borehole and pump business and she had her first exhibition. They then moved to South Africa and haven't looked back.

Delene spends many hours at waterholes taking photographs to work from and her preferred medium is oil on canvas. She is a listed artist in 'Artists of the Waterberg' directory, has been the subject of several magazine and newspaper articles and has had successful exhibitions. She has been commissioned to do the paintings for Lephalale municipal offices and the Anglo-American game lodges. Her paintings are sold worldwide.

Anna-Maré Buys
This artist grew up in a town named Phillippolis in the southern Freestate. Her close interaction with nature taught her to observe very closely en to display this observations with brush or palet on canvas. She has been painting full time since 2009 in oil and has a loose impressionistic realistic style. The essential of her art is the atmosphere that she creates with color and brush strokes or palet, with emphasize on clouds. The purpose of her art is to catch the hunger for the beauty in life and to show it to people. Her inspiration comes from different places in the country , but specially the Eastern Freestate and the oceans. Light, texture and color is extremely important to her .

She has attended several workshops by well known artists in South Africa as well as Italy. Some of her art has been sent to America, Italy, Malaysia, and Lesotho and also does exhibits at large Arts Festivals . "Life feeds Art and Art feeds Life. " --- J Moreau.

ABOUT THE ARTIST :

T’Kay Artist Biography
Tel: 081 465 4009
Artist Name: T’Kay
Real Name: Theuns Koekemoer
Birth date: 7 January 1970.

I started of many years ago doing solely pencil sketching which included graphite, charcoal as well as coloured pencil.
Four years ago I decided to take up the brush and started off with oil paintings. My fine eye for detail has come into play into the oil paintings which I adopted with the years of experience with sketching in fine detail.  I have a distinctive eye for colour use and tend to mix my colours to as close as possible to similarly that of the subject matt
Subject matters include but are not limited to wildlife, landscapes, seascapes, portraiture, figurative and still life, with an exceptionally great love towards figurative, nature and wildlife studies.
The oil paints I use is Winsor and Newton and Daler Rowney range of paints.
I do not strive to become a super realist artist, but my end product must be realistically good enough.   I still want my admirers to realise the painting is still a painting. Many hours of fine detail goes into my work until I am satisfied with the end product.  People have started to know me by my distinctive style which I developed on my own, which is unique to me and not at all adopted from any other artist.  I have learnt with trial by error until I have reached a point until where I am satisfied with my work, knowing that my clients will also then be satisfied when they buy an original “T’Kay” which would definitely be an investment to the owner.
Selling points have been via internet, a successful group exhibition, a couple of craft markets as well as through a couple of galleries.  I have already sold numerous local artworks as well as overseas to New-Zealand, Netherlands, UK and USA.
The artist name “T’Kay” is derived from when phonetically speaking out my initials, under which I have already established a name in the artist market. I guess the name “Kay” gives an eerie glow to my name, as Sir Kay was one of the Knights of the Round Table.
